A robber disguised in a gown broke into a businessman’s house in Bhilwara and violently attacked the elderly mother present alone at night. The 58-year-old woman bravely resisted the intruder for nearly 5–7 minutes, forcing him to flee after he failed to break open the locker. The incident occurred late Thursday night in the Old Bapu Nagar area under Pratap Nagar Police Station. CCTV footage of the incident surfaced on Friday. Elderly woman confronts the intruder According to police, the robber entered the home of grocery and fruit trader Dilip Rawani around 1 AM. At the time, the family had gone to attend a relative’s wedding ceremony, leaving Dilip’s mother, Rekha (58), alone in the house. Rekha told police that she woke up to the sight of a stranger in a gown attempting to strangulate her. She resisted, and a physical fight ensued between the two. Attacker fetches iron tool from kitchen, hits victim twice During the scuffle, the intruder, enraged and desperate, ran into the kitchen and picked up a pair of iron tongs. He struck the woman twice on the head, causing her to collapse momentarily. Despite her injuries, she pleaded for her life and continued to raise an alarm. Failed attempt to break the locker After attacking her, the robber tried to break open the cupboard locker but failed. Hearing her screams, he panicked and fled the house. Neighbours rush in, family notified As soon as the accused escaped, Rekha began shouting for help. Neighbours woke up and rushed to her aid. Some of them immediately went to the wedding venue to inform her family. Her son and other relatives returned home and took her to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in Bhilwara, where doctors declared her out of danger.
