Jabalpur’s SAF 6th Battalion is under scrutiny for a Rs 2 crore travel allowance scam. Originally implicating 10–12 staff members, the probe has expanded to 20–25 constables and head constables. Huge deposits in short service period Most of the accused officers have been in service for 5–7 years, yet their bank accounts show deposits in lakhs of rupees. Notably, constable Abhishek Jharia received Rs 55 lakh as TA payments. The irregularities were detected by the State Finance Intelligence Cell (SFIC). Even personnel who have been transferred to other districts are being summoned for investigation. A letter from the treasury and accounts department reached the Jabalpur Collector, prompting the district Panchayat CEO to form a six-member team tasked with submitting a report promptly. Salary vs. TA payments The regular SAF salary ranges from Rs 23,000–25,000 at recruitment, rising to Rs 30,000 after five years.
