Guna police have arrested Darhat Lodha, a notorious thief whose criminal record is staggering. At 37 years old, he has committed 38 thefts, and 54 FIRs have been registered against him across multiple police stations, including Kotwali and Cantt. His crimes range from theft to attempted murder, violations of the Excise Act, SC/ST Act, Arms Act, and other serious offenses. According to police, Darhat Lodha began his criminal activities at the age of 16. He is reportedly addicted to smack, and his brother, Rajkumar Lodha, is also involved in theft and substance abuse. Darhat is known for his skill in breaking locks, often opening them in mere seconds. CCTV footage shows him effortlessly breaking into a university office. The university office heist On October 30, Ravindran, a resident of Bhagat Singh Colony, filed a complaint at Cantt Police Station. He reported that the office of Mahakoshal University’s Guna branch, located in the District Panchayat Complex, was broken into overnight. The previous evening, he had locked up and gone home. The next morning, he found the shutter lock broken, and cash and a mobile phone missing from the counter. CCTV footage captured the thief in action. Police, acting on tips and using technical resources, identified Darhat Lodha, son of Ramlal Lodha, resident of Chandshah Wali Road, Umaria, and took him into custody. During interrogation, he admitted to stealing 5,000 rupees and a mobile phone from the office. A criminal history spanning two decades Darhat Lodha’s first FIR was registered in 2004 when he was just 16 years old. From breaking into homes as a minor, he steadily escalated his criminal activities. Police say many other cases likely went unreported. Darhat can break into homes, shops, and warehouses with remarkable ease. He has demonstrated exceptional skill in lock-picking. The CCTV from the university office shows him breaking the shutter lock in seconds, bending it aside, and entering. He is also capable of opening centrally locked doors to gain access. Cantt Station Officer Anoop Bhargava confirmed that Darhat Lodha has been arrested for the university office theft and presented in court, resulting in his remand to jail. Between Cantt and Kotwali stations alone, approximately 60 cases are registered against him.
