MP introduces first on-the-spot awards for police personnel:Ujjain SP launches new system, no files needed anymore

In a first for Madhya Pradesh, Ujjain Police have introduced a system that allows police personnel to receive on-the-spot awards and certificates for outstanding work. The initiative, started by Ujjain SP Pradeep Sharma, aims to cut delays, boost morale, and acknowledge good performance immediately. Instant awards with a dedicated reward book A special Reward Order Book has been created for this purpose. Within just two days, five police personnel have already been awarded on the spot. SP Sharma said that rewarding a police officer instantly after good work is crucial: If any police personnel perform exceptionally, it is our responsibility to recognise them right away so their morale increases. Each award entry includes the specific reason for recognition. Based on this record, the department is also building a database of police expertise categories.
For example, if an officer performs exceptionally in a cyber-fraud case, they will be labelled as a Cyber Expert so their skills can be used in future cases — something the previous system lacked. Old System Was Slow and Inefficient Earlier, the process required: This often took 10–15 days, and officers sometimes forgot which constable was to be rewarded or why.
If note-sheets were misplaced, the officer lost eligibility for the award. Even after receiving the award, the entry often took several more days to reach their service record — or never reached at all due to missing files. The new system eliminates this entirely. Constable Jeevan Katariya Both from Bhairavgarh, rewarded for effective action against local goons and history-sheeters under bond-over procedures. 4. Constable Veer Singh Yadav 5. Constable Damodar Patel From Neelganga police station, awarded ₹500 each and certificates for catching a knife-wielding suspect during late-night patrol inspections by SP Sharma.
