Police have caught the man accused of killing a retired teacher in Ratlam’s Meera Kuti Laxmanpura area. The accused, Sagar Meena, was injured in a short encounter when he tried to escape from police custody. According to police, Sagar Meena, 38, had murdered 70-year-old Sarla Dhanetwal around 12:30 AM on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday. Police arrested him near the Jhabua border and were bringing him back when the incident happened. Between Raoti and Rani Singh, Sagar asked to use the toilet. When the officers stopped the vehicle, he pushed DD Nagar Station In-charge Anurag Yadav and tried to snatch his pistol. He then pointed a pistol and tried to run away. Police say Industrial Area TI Satyendra Raghuvanshi fired in self-defence and shot Sagar in the left leg. DD Nagar TI Anurag Yadav also got injured in the struggle. Both the accused and TI Yadav were taken to Ratlam Medical College around 1:30 AM. Doctors later removed the bullet from Sagar’s leg. Maid and her daughter had hatched the conspiracy
SP Amit Kumar said that the murder conspiracy was hatched by the teacher’s maid Leela Damor and her daughter Mona. Mona is a close friend of the accused Sagar Meena. These two had told Sagar that the teacher lives alone at home. There are many jewels and money in her house. Mother-daughter revealed the truth under strict interrogation
Police suspected the maid Leela from day one. Because she had not gone to work the day before the incident, but had reached home on the day of the murder. When the police took Leela and Mona into custody and interrogated them strictly, they broke down and revealed the name of Sagar Meena. After this, the SIT traced Sagar. Police investigation revealed that the accused had been trying to enter the house for 4 days. On Monday morning, he reached the roof by stepping on the stairs outside the house and the electricity meter. He ambushed on the stairs at the back of the house.
