The accused in the rape of a 6-year-old girl remains absconding, triggering public anger in Goharganj of Raisen district. Protesters are staging demonstrations for the fifth consecutive day on Wednesday, demanding the arrest of the perpetrator. Markets in Mandideep and Obedullaganj have been completely shut in protest, while some schools in the region have declared holidays voluntarily. Parents were informed via messages that buses on the Mandideep-Obedullaganj route would not operate. Private schools in Goharganj and Obedullaganj also remained closed. Several organizations have called for a complete Bandh in the area. Public anger grows amid continued impunity The arrest of the accused remains a top demand of the public, who continue to demonstrate despite multiple assurances from authorities. The case has intensified scrutiny over the police response and raised questions about accountability in handling sensitive crimes against children. Authorities are under pressure to act swiftly to restore public confidence, with local administration and police now focusing on both law enforcement and ensuring the safety of protesters. CM intervenes, removes Raisen SP Late Tuesday night, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav expressed his displeasure over the delay in arresting the accused. Visiting the Chief Minister’s residence, he criticized the police for their lax response to the protests and for failing to take timely action during the roadblocks. Following this, the CM removed Raisen SP Pankaj Pandey from his post and attached him to the headquarters. Ashutosh has been appointed as the new SP in Raisen.
