A commotion broke out on Sunday during the Backward Class and Scheduled Caste-Tribe conference held at Manas Bhawan in Jabalpur. The event saw a large turnout, with former Congress MLA Lakhan Ghanghoria among the attendees. Several book stalls had also been set up outside the venue for the conference. Youths create disruption, beaten by crowd Amid the proceedings, two to three youths entered the venue and allegedly created a ruckus. As soon as people present inside became aware of the situation, they caught the youths and beat them up. Eyewitnesses claim that officers from Madanmahal police station were present during the incident. A video has surfaced showing a youth being beaten inside Manas Bhawan. The footage also shows the crowd rushing outside, spotting more individuals, and chasing them for a considerable distance. Police later reached the spot and took two youths to the station. Visuals related to the story.. Attempt to approach chief guest MLA Siddharth Kushwaha According to attendees, Satna MLA Siddharth Kushwaha was the chief guest at the program. The youths who entered the venue were reportedly trying to approach him. This led to tension among the participants, and the two boys accused of causing the disturbance were assaulted by the crowd. Cong’ leader accuses protesters of RSS links Reacting to the incident, former Congress MLA Lakhan Ghanghoria alleged that the protesters belonged to groups aligned with the government’s RSS ideology. He further claimed that instead of taking action against those who disrupted the event, the police were targeting individuals who had set up book stalls as part of the conference. VHP workers among those assaulted The youths beaten during the incident were later identified as Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) workers. After the assault, VHP representatives reached the police station to lodge their protest. Provincial Secretary Sumit Thakur alleged that books insulting Hindu deities were being sold at the event. He claimed that anti-Hindu activities were also taking place during the conference, prompting their opposition. Thakur demanded that an FIR be registered against those who assaulted their workers, warning of an aggressive agitation if no action is taken.
