Rajgarh police have busted an interstate gang that defrauded farmers of crores. Under a special campaign ‘Operation Kisan Rakshak’, 14 accused have been arrested from Uttar Pradesh. This gang was defrauding innocent farmers in the name of fake companies like “Farmer First Choice” and “Bright India Agrotech”. Police have seized goods worth a total of 26 lakh 72 thousand rupees from the gang, which includes 16 lakh 16 thousand rupees in cash, an i20 car worth 10 lakh rupees, and 28 mobile phones. Police investigation revealed that this gang used to stay in one state for three to four months. They used to lure farmers with government schemes like subsidies, advanced plants, polyhouses, and franchises. Their main objective was to loot the hard-earned money of farmers. To conceal identity, changed location, changed name The gang used a new name, new mobile number, fake ID, and fake SIM card everywhere to hide their identity. They lived in rented rooms, which made it extremely difficult to trace their location. For fraud, the gang first chose districts where no one knew them. To gain the trust of farmers, they prepared professional letterheads, banners, and visiting cards. They also opened bank accounts and acquired SIM cards in the names of poor people to conceal their true identity. They used to contact farmers by visiting villages After this, members of the gang would go to villages and contact farmers, creating an atmosphere of a government scheme. They would extort money from farmers in the name of surveys, receipts, and agreements, and immediately transfer it to those fake accounts. As soon as the money was deposited, the entire gang would flee the area overnight. In the year 2024, this gang was active in Khandwa, Sehore, Vidisha, Shajapur, and Rajgarh districts. According to the police, they were preparing to expand their fraud network to districts like Ratlam, Neemuch, Mandsaur, and Pratapgarh in Rajasthan in the future.
