A tragic accident occurred on Friday morning in the Vijaynagar area of Dewas. Retired DSP Himmat Singh Rana (82) was sitting on a chair near the gate outside his house when suddenly the balcony of the house broke and fell down. The balcony fell directly on him and he was buried under the debris. He died on the spot. Upon receiving information, the police reached the spot and after removing the debris, Rana was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. According to family members, Rana had retired from the post of DSP about 20 years ago. He lived in this Housing Board house. At the time of the accident, he was sitting in the verandah reading a newspaper. At that time, his wife Kamala, daughter Preeti, and granddaughter were present in the house.
