How Bihar elections benefit state’s hospitality industry?:Hotel room rents skyrocket to more than ₹24,000 per night

Bihar’s Legislative Assembly Election 2025 is turning about to be a money spinner for the state’s hospitality industry. In the run up to the elections, the room rents of hotels in the capital city Patna have skyrocketed to more than ₹24,000 per night due to heightened demand. This would apparently lead to more job creation as hoteliers would have looked to hire more labours to cater to increased number of customers. Lets see by how much the room rents have gone through the roof: Hotel Maurya: Business news website, CNBC quoted online travel booking portal, ‘Booking.com’ data that generally under normal circumstances, the room rent in Patna’s Hotel Maurya remains in the range of ₹8,000 to ₹12,000 per night. But, another travel booking platform, ‘MakeMyTrip,’ showed that the hotel was fully occupied and that no rooms were available for booking on 06 November and 07 November. For the subsequent day, the rent was quoted above ₹14,000 per night excluding taxes. Hotel Taj City Centre: While, overnight room rents of Hotel Taj City Centre for bookings on 06 November and 07 November have skyrocketed to ₹24,000 plus taxes. Why fees have gone through the roof in hotels in Patna? This is owing to the legislative assembly elections of 2025 in Bihar. Rallies, media events and other relevant events require booking of hotels resulting in housefulls and elevated charges. According to various reports, most of the hotels in the capital city were fully occupied with elevated room rents. How much is Bihar’s GSDP?
