A shocking revelation has emerged in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case. Investigation reports have confirmed that Raja’s wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, personally wiped off the blood from the murder weapon after the killing. To destroy the evidence, she allegedly cleaned the weapon using wild grass growing nearby instead of cloth or paper. Raja’s brother Vipin Raghuvanshi, however, claimed he was unaware of this detail and said he would soon travel to Shillong to record his testimony. Police investigation: Second chargesheet to be filed According to police and judicial investigations, Sonam conspired with Raj Kushwaha to kill her husband. The Shillong police are preparing to file a second chargesheet against three others — Shilom James, Lokendra Tomar, and Balveer Ahirwar — accused of helping destroy evidence. Sonam used wild grass to clean the murder weapon Sources revealed that after killing Raja with a sharp-edged weapon, Sonam cleaned it using grass instead of a cloth. She then smashed Raja’s mobile phone with the same weapon to ensure that his location could not be traced. Brother denies knowledge of evidence tampering When contacted, Vipin Raghuvanshi said he had no knowledge of who cleaned the murder weapon after the killing. “I’m unaware of this claim but will soon go to Shillong for testimony,” he told reporters. Murder during honeymoon in Meghalaya Raja Raghuvanshi, a transport businessman from Indore, had married Sonam on May 11, 2024. The couple went on their honeymoon to Shillong on May 21, but Raja went missing on May 23. Ten days later, police discovered his mutilated body in a 30-foot-deep gorge, bearing multiple stab wounds. Sonam was missing at the time but later surrendered in Uttar Pradesh. Affair and conspiracy behind the murder Investigations revealed that Sonam had an illicit relationship with Raj Kushwaha, which allegedly motivated the murder. Though her family denied these claims, police said Sonam lured Raja to an isolated location under the pretext of sightseeing. There, Raj and two others attacked Raja with knives, killing him on the spot. One of the murder weapons was later recovered from the forest. Sonam fled the scene and later surrendered to the police. All five accused, including Sonam and Raj, are currently in judicial custody.
