Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is unlikely to attend the International Cricket Council (ICC) Executive Board meeting in Dubai, where the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to raise the issue of the Asia Cup trophy not being presented to India. ‘Domestic political issues’ may prevent Naqvi from attending meeting The four-day meeting began on Tuesday, with Naqvi, who also chairs the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), facing potential questions from the BCCI after Indian players refused to accept the trophy from him following his previous anti-India remarks. A PCB source cited “domestic political issues” as a possible reason for Naqvi’s absence but did not elaborate as quoted in a PTI report. Naqvi, who is also Pakistan’s interior minister, has skipped ICC meetings since Jay Shah became ICC Chairman last year. PCB Chief Operating Officer may represent Pak in board meeting PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Syed is set to attend the Chief Executives’ meeting. If Naqvi cannot travel, he may still participate remotely or represent Pakistan in the key board meeting scheduled for November 7. The Asia Cup trophy remains locked at the ACC headquarters in Dubai, months after the final in September. Naqvi has maintained that the trophy must be handed to a BCCI representative and an Indian team member in Dubai on November 10, rejecting requests from the BCCI to send it to Mumbai.
