A Bhopal-based youth, who had gone to Thailand on a company trip, lost his life in Phuket after drowning in the sea. The deceased, identified as Ankit Sahu, was an employee of BL Life Sciences, a medical equipment company. On October 23, 2025, a group of company employees, including Ankit and another youth from Bhopal, travelled to Thailand as part of an official tour. The incident occurred in Phuket, where Ankit was swept away by strong water currents in the sea. A rescue team managed to save his colleague, Nikesh, but could not revive Ankit despite efforts. He confirmed that Ankit drowned in the sea at Phuket, describing it as an “untimely and painful loss”. State govt, embassy coordinate repatriation Bhargava added that after receiving the distress call from Ankit’s family, he immediately contacted Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) and senior administrative officers to expedite the repatriation process. Acting swiftly, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Neeraj Mandloi, coordinated with the Royal Thai Embassy in Delhi and Indian Embassy officials in Thailand, including IPS officer Muthu, to ensure necessary procedures were completed. Body to reach Bhopal on November 1 According to the coordinated plan, the post-mortem in Thailand will be completed by Saturday, after which Ankit’s mortal remains will be flown to India. The body is expected to reach Bhopal on November 1, 2025, where it will be handed over to his grieving family.
