Schoolgirls seen buying liquor in school uniform in Mandla:SDM confirms shopkeeper sold bottles; Excise officer says, ‘Age of girls will be verified before action’

A shocking incident has come to light from Nainpur in Mandla district, where schoolgirls were caught on camera purchasing liquor while wearing their school uniforms. The liquor shop owner allegedly sold them alcohol without verifying their age. Incident captured on CCTV A CCTV video shows several schoolgirls arriving at a liquor shop in their uniforms. Before approaching the counter, they cover their heads with scarves, buy liquor, and leave quickly.
After the footage surfaced, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ashutosh Thakur inspected the shop and confirmed that the girls seen in the video were indeed students. Selling liquor to minors is a violation of the General License Condition (GLC) under excise law. The department is preparing a detailed report to submit to the District Collector for further action. Political reaction: Former MLA blames government The incident has sparked political controversy. Former MLA and District Congress President Dr. Ashok Marskole called it a case of gross negligence by the state government and the excise department.
He said, At a time when these girls should have been in the temple of learning, they were found buying liquor from a foreign liquor shop. ‘Where is the so-called women empowerment?’ Dr. Marskole questions Dr. Marskole further questioned the silence of BJP leaders who had earlier protested against Congress leader Jitu Patwari when he raised concerns over rising alcoholism in Madhya Pradesh. He said, When Patwari cited a central report highlighting the state’s alcohol problem, BJP leaders burned his effigies. But now, when schoolgirls in Mandla are buying liquor, where are those same leaders and their claims of ‘Nari Shakti’?
