ISIS terrorist Adnan focused heavily on fitness:Spent 10 hours daily alone in a closed room; father claims he had no idea of activities

Delhi Police arrested 20-year-old Syed Adnan from Nishatpura, Bhopal, for suspected terrorist activities. Adnan was reportedly in direct contact with an ISIS commander based in Syria, who allegedly instructed him to plan a blast in Delhi. Adnan resided at House No. A-46, Indus Regency Colony. His father, Syed Gulfam, works as an accountant for a reputed company. Adnan had passed his 12th grade with 97% marks, after which his father encouraged him to pursue Chartered Accountancy (CA). He regularly attended coaching classes and, according to neighbors, paid special attention to physical fitness. At home, he spent most of his time in a first-floor room, largely undisturbed by his parents. Alleged ISIS planning through apps While his parents believed he was focused on studies, Adnan allegedly used Dark App, Telegram, and IMO to communicate with the ISIS commander in Syria. He began collecting weapons in Delhi with an accomplice and shared posts related to religious extremism on WhatsApp groups. Delhi Police have seized their mobile phones. During interrogation, Adnan admitted that he spent 8–10 hours daily alone on his laptop and phone planning the so-called mission. On Friday, both suspects were produced in court and sent on remand. Father shocked by arrest Syed Gulfam told reporters off-camera that he had no knowledge of his son’s activities. He described Adnan as highly talented and dedicated to his studies. According to the father, Delhi Police raided the house at 4 AM on October 18, claiming Adnan was being taken for questioning. The family was denied permission to accompany him, with assurances that Adnan would be released within two to three days. Neighbors recall Adnan’s routine Neighbors describe Adnan as a serious, disciplined young man, committed to fitness. He used to greet them during morning walks, and the family seemed modern and secular. No one suspected involvement in extremist activities. Previous threats and ISIS Links Adnan allegedly threatened the judge involved in the 2024 Gyanvapi case, calling the judge a “kafir” on social media. This led him to connect with another Delhi-based Adnan and eventually contact the ISIS commander in Syria. Adnan, also known as Abu ISIS, was active in WhatsApp groups supporting ISIS modules. Police recovered suspicious items and electronic gadgets from his residence, where he had lived with his family for six years. Family background The Delhi Police sleeper cell, in coordination with the NIA, arrested Adnan and transported him to Delhi. Neighbors and local police reportedly had no prior clue about his extremist activities. During the raid, authorities also seized religiously extremist books, a laptop, and discovered Adnan had created a fake Instagram ID (‘Khilji’).
