MP Police launches state-wide crackdown against illicit liquor:Booze worth Rs 2.40 crore seized in numerous operations; DGP leads campaign

The Madhya Pradesh Police, following directives from state’s Director General of Police (DGP), Kailash Makwana, recently launched an intensive statewide campaign to curb the manufacture, transport, and sale of illegal liquor, the MP Police Headquarter (PHQ) officials reported on Friday. Acting on the state police chief’s strict instructions, the police units across all the districts of the state achieved significant success, collectively seizing illicit liquor worth Rs 2.40 crore in recent operations. The PHQ officials said that the crackdown sends a strong message to liquor mafias and smugglers while also safeguarding public health and safety. Huge seizures reported from multiple districts In Indore, the Betma Police, under the supervision of SP (Rural) Yangchen Dolkar Bhutia intercepted a truck late Thursday night and seized 1,200 cases of illegal beer (14,400 bulk litres) worth Rs 33.6 lakh. The truck, valued at Rs 15 lakh, brought the total seizure value to Rs 48.6 lakh. In Alirajpur, the Bakhadgarh and Udaigarh Police, led by SP Raghuvansh Singh, conducted two coordinated raids. In total, Alirajpur Police seized 258 cases (3,096 litres) of beer worth Rs 11.6 lakh, a major breakthrough against the local liquor trade. Wider impact across MP Additional seizures were made in several districts, including Mandsaur (Rs 1.10 crore), Mandla (Rs 22 lakh), Gwalior (Rs 11 lakh), Rajgarh (Rs 9.64 lakh), Morena (Rs 5.23 lakh), Khargone (Rs 5 lakh), Indore (Rs 3.5 lakh), Sagar (Rs 2.1 lakh), Vidisha (Rs 1.35 lakh), and Panna (Rs 1.16 lakh). So far, operations across Madhya Pradesh have led to the confiscation of illegal liquor and vehicles worth Rs 2.40 crore, with numerous arrests made under the Excise Act. The DGP affirmed that such strict action will continue, ensuring that no one involved in the trade of illicit liquor escapes accountability.
