MP plans medical infrastructure upgrade under CM Care Scheme:super specialty units in Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, Rewa, Sagar to boost cancer, cardiac and transplant care

The Madhya Pradesh government has announced a major plan to strengthen its super-specialty healthcare services under the CM Care Scheme, aimed at providing advanced treatment for critical and chronic diseases within the state. In the first phase, super-specialty facilities will be developed in five government medical colleges, Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, Rewa, and Sagar. Each institution will establish new departments for advanced medical care, featuring modern infrastructure, high-end diagnostic technology, and trained specialists to enhance patient care and reduce dependency on private hospitals. Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla chaired a review meeting of the Public Health and Medical Education Department and instructed officials to prepare and submit detailed proposals for cancer care infrastructure and equipment procurement to the Cabinet at the earliest. Focus on three major super-specialty areas The CM Care Scheme’s first phase will prioritize three core areas of healthcare expansion: At present, basic cardiac and oncology services exist in these institutions. Under the CM Care Scheme, these will be expanded into full-fledged super-specialty centers capable of handling advanced medical cases. Recruitment, infrastructure, and upgradation on priority The deputy CM directed officials to ensure that infrastructure and manpower proposals for all projects are submitted together to avoid administrative delays. He also emphasized timely recruitment of specialist doctors, nurses, and teaching staff, along with the upgradation of hostels and facilities in medical colleges. Shukla further instructed that the gastroenterology department at Rewa Medical College be established through CSR funding and the UG hostel at Sagar Medical College be upgraded immediately. Principal secretary Sandeep Yadav, commissioner Vishesh Garhpale, and director of medical education Dr Aruna Kumar attended the review meeting. Drug testing capacity to be quadrupled across state In a separate review meeting, Shukla directed officials to quadruple the state’s drug testing capacity and strengthen the pharmaceutical quality monitoring system. He also instructed officials to speed up the appointment of medical professionals and to study recruitment models from other states to make the hiring of medical officers and specialists more efficient and transparent. Minister of State for Public Health and Medical Education Narendra Shivaji Patel stated that the government is equipping drug testing laboratories with modern technology and trained staff to guarantee the availability of high-quality medicines to the public. Recruitment of 267 doctors underway Officials informed that results for post of 267 doctors and specialists were declared last month; of these, 243 have completed counselling, 7 have been posted, and 17 are under process.
