MP police returns 1,450 lost cell phone units:Returns them to their owners so far in October 2025; cops achieve feat through CEIR portal

The Madhya Pradesh police, demonstrating a perfect blend of smart policing and dedication to public service, has achieved remarkable success in recovering lost and stolen mobile phones using advanced technology and citizen-focused initiatives, a statement issued by the Madhya Pradesh Police Headquarters (PHQ) read. Through campaigns such as CEIR Portal, Citizen Cop Application, Operation Upahar, and Operation Vishwas, the police teams across the state traced and returned more than 1,450 mobile phones to their rightful owners so far in October 2025. All the cell phone units, as per the PHQ officials, were collectively worth crores of rupees. Vidisha, Bhopal lead in cell phone recovery drives Under the Mission Mobile Recovery drive, the Vidisha Police recorded outstanding results, recovering 275 mobile phones valued at Rs 55 lakh within just 15 days. In 2025 alone, the district has returned 1,112 phones worth Rs 2.22 crore. In the Bhopal Police Commissionerate’s Zone-4 area, more than 100 mobile phones worth Rs 17 lakh were traced via the CEIR Portal. MP’s Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana congratulated Bhopal Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra, Additional Commissioner Avdhesh Goswami, DCP Mayur Khandelwal, and their teams for the outstanding performance. Indore, Chhatarpur, other districts extend the effort too The Indore Police, through the Citizen Cop Application, delivered a “Gift of Trust” by returning 272 mobile phones worth Rs 1 crore to citizens on Diwali. So far in 2025, Indore has recovered 760 phones, some traced from states such as Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Bihar.Similarly, the Chhatarpur Police of the state, under Operation Vishwas, returned 91 phones during Diwali, totalling 540 recoveries this year. Ashoknagar Police’s cyber cell located 70 phones worth Rs 7 lakh, while Singrauli Police returned 288 phones worth Rs 68 lakh via the Sanchar Sathi (CEIR) Portal. Operations restore trust among citizens From Mandla to Mandsaur, and Shajapur to Alirajpur, the districts across the state reported significant recoveries. DGP Makwana said that these efforts go beyond asset recovery; they restore public trust and strengthen citizen confidence in law enforcement.
