Indore salutes brave martyrs on Police Commemoration Day ceremony:Floral tributes offered at 15th Battalion; parade honors 191 fallen heroes

Police Commemoration Day was observed with solemnity and pride at the 15th Battalion, Special Armed Force on October 21. The ceremony was organized to pay homage to the police personnel who made the supreme sacrifice while serving the nation. The event was presided over by Commissioner of Police Santosh Kumar Singh, who, along with senior officers and personnel, offered floral tributes to the martyrs at the Shaheed Smarak. A day of remembrance and national reverence Police Commemoration Day is observed every year across India in memory of the 11 CRPF personnel martyred on October 21, 1959, in Hot Springs, Ladakh, after a sudden attack by Chinese troops. The day stands as a symbol of courage, devotion, and sacrifice of the Indian police force, who continue to protect the nation in the most challenging circumstances. Roll call of martyrs and parade tribute During the ceremony, the names of 191 police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty between September 1, 2024, and August 31, 2025, were read out. Among them were 11 officers from Madhya Pradesh Police. The roll of honor was presented by Commandant Abhishek Anand of the 15th/1st Battalion, Special Armed Force, Indore. The ceremony was followed by a ceremonial parade by platoons from the 1st Battalion, 15th Battalion, RAPTC, and Home Guards, who presented a guard of honor in memory of the martyrs. Senior officers and dignitaries pay tribute Prominent officers including IG (Rural) Anurag, IG (Special Armed Force – West Zone) Chandrashekhar Solanki, additional commissioner of police, DIG (Rural), and DIG (Narcotics), along with several retired officers, paid their respects by offering floral tributes and observing a two-minute silence. The parade was commanded by inspector Satendra Sharma (SAF 15th Battalion), with Sub-inspector Gajraj Singh Chauhan (SAF 1st Battalion) serving as deputy commander. Citizens join to honor the fallen heroes A large number of public representatives, dignitaries, and members of the Nagar Suraksha Samiti attended the ceremony, joining the police fraternity in expressing gratitude and reverence to those who laid down their lives in the line of duty. Commissioner Santosh Kumar Singh said, Our fallen comrades are the pride of the force. Their courage, discipline, and sacrifice inspire every police officer to serve with greater dedication.
