Students made to lift bricks, sift sand at Morena school:Minors put to construction work instead of regular classes; Collector promises action against principal

Students at the Government High School in Morena​​​​​​’s Aurethi village in Porsa tehsil, were made to lift bricks and sift sand on Thursday. The incident came to light after a video of the students performing the labor went viral on Friday. In the footage, two male students can be seen carrying bricks in pans, while female students are sifting sand using sieves while standing on a building platform. A male and female teacher are also visible working alongside the children, and a mason is seen working below. BRC confirms video, investigation underway Porsa Block Resource Coordinator (BRC) Shailendra Singh Tomar confirmed that the video shows students engaged in labor. He stated that an investigation is underway to determine whether the children were made to work forcibly or participated voluntarily. Collector calls for action against principal Collector Lokesh Kumar Jangid termed the incident objectionable and said the school principal holds moral responsibility. He stated that a proposal for action against the principal will be sent to the Divisional Commissioner. The Collector also criticized BRC Tomar’s statement, calling it irresponsible. The incident has sparked concerns about child labor in schools and raised questions about accountability among school staff and local authorities. The ongoing investigation will determine the exact circumstances under which the students were made to perform these tasks.
