Senior stars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma hit the ground running in Perth, spending long hours in the nets as Team India began preparations for the upcoming ODI series against Australia starting Sunday. Both former India captains, who last featured in the Champions Trophy earlier this year, are returning to action in the 50-over format. The pair batted for nearly 30 minutes each, with Rohit also seen in an extended chat with head coach Gautam Gambhir. Having retired from Tests and T20Is earlier this year, the tour could mark Kohli and Rohit’s final appearance in Australia, with their 2027 World Cup participation uncertain. New skipper Shubman Gill, however, has backed the senior pros for their experience and influence.
