Bhopal’s Habibganj police on Tuesday laid hands on two members of a gang involved in a series of robberies and vehicle thefts across Bhopal and Sagar districts, the police said. According to the police, the accused were linked to multiple incidents of mobile snatching and vehicle theft. Stolen property worth Rs 3.5 lakh recovered from their possession, the police added. According to the police, a juvenile offender and his associate, Dhruv Rai (21), were taken into custody, while a third accused, Pushpa Ahirwar, is on the run at present. Cops crack multiple cases through CCTV footage, informer network Habibganj police station house officer (SHO) Sanjeev Chouksey said that a special police team was formed to investigate the cases pertaining to cell phone snatching and vehicle thefts registered at his police station. Acting on CCTV footage and local intelligence, officers examined over 70–80 surveillance videos around the crime scenes. Based on an informant’s tip-off, police traced one of the stolen motorcycles parked near Bittan Market. A swift operation led to the detention of a juvenile suspect, who later confessed to carrying out the robberies with two men named Dhruv Rai and Pushpa Ahirwar. Accused confess to snatching and thefts During interrogation, the accused admitted to planning robberies to earn quick money. On October 9, 2025, they snatched a cell phone from a woman and another cell phone from another individual, fleeing the scene on a motorcycle. Further questioning revealed their involvement in the theft of a bike (MP04 ZH 8174) from Bhopal’s Arera Colony on September 26, 2025, and the theft of another bike (MP15 MP 7923) from Sagar district.
