Zampa, Inglis will not play first ODI against India:Leg-spinner to welcome second child; Kuhnemann and Philippe named replacements

Australia’s leg-spinner Adam Zampa and wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis will not play the first ODI against India. Cricket Australia (CA) removed both players from the first match. In their place, left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann and wicketkeeper Josh Philippe were included in the squad. Zampa is going to be a father CA informed that Zampa is going to be a father for the second time. Therefore, he has taken paternity leave. Zampa’s wife, Harriet Palmer, gave birth to a son in 2022. She is going to be a mother for the second time. Both got married in 2021. Zampa told CA that he wants to stay at his home in Northern New South Wales for the birth of the child. However, Zampa might return for the remaining 2 ODIs. In the first ODI, left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann will take his place. If he gets a place in the playing XI, it will be his first ODI at home in 3 years. Inglis out due to injury Wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis will not be able to play the first 2 ODIs due to injury. He is suffering from a hamstring strain. Josh Philippe will be seen taking on the role of wicketkeeper in his place. Regular wicketkeeper Alex Carey is not part of the first ODI due to playing first-class cricket. Carey will return from the second ODI. CA Australia hopes that Inglis will return for the third ODI on October 25. He is the first-choice wicketkeeper for the white-ball team, while Carey plays the role of backup wicketkeeper. Inglis also missed the T20 series against New Zealand in September due to injury. Philippe to play ODI after 4 years Right-hand wicketkeeper batter Josh Philippe will be seen playing an ODI for Australia after 4 years. He played his last ODI against West Indies in 2021, and also made his ODI debut in the same series. He has played 12 T20s for the team, but could only play his last match in 2023. He will play an international match for Australia after 2 years. Remaining 2 ODIs in Adelaide and Sydney A series of 3 ODIs and 5 T20s will be played between India and Australia. 3 ODIs will be held in Perth, Adelaide, and Sydney on October 19, 23, and 25.
