A woman who had filed a rape and threat complaint against former BJP district president Satish Sharma allegedly attempted suicide by overdosing on sleeping pills on Friday night in Satna. She was rushed to the district hospital, where doctors say her condition is currently stable. Reportedly, the victim claims that despite registering an FIR, the accused has not been arrested. Family receiving continuous threats She and her family have been receiving continuous threats, and some supporters of the BJP leader allegedly accessed her personal social media accounts to post objectionable comments. Frustrated by this harassment, she attempted to take her own life. Timeline of events FIR against those who revealed identity Kolgawan TI Sudeep Soni said the victim’s condition is improving and her treatment is ongoing. The investigation into the matter is still underway, and further action will follow. Police have registered an FIR against a WhatsApp group that revealed the woman’s identity and have begun investigating. Authorities are also identifying others who shared her photos and videos on social media. In this case, the former BJP district president posted a video on social media giving his clarification, claiming that false allegations were being made against him and that he was being framed to damage his image. Rape allegation in the name of providing employment The incident dates back to April 24, 2025, when the victim complained at Kolgawa police station that Satish Sharma had called her home for tea and molested her. She alleged that she was sexually exploited under the pretext of providing employment. Following the allegations, Sharma was removed from his position and expelled from the party.
