For scores of small workers, hawkers, house helps, and daily wage earners in India dreaming of a financially secure old age, the Atal Pension Yojana (APY) offers one of the best options. Effective October 1, 2025, the government has made joining the scheme even simpler. A new subscriber registration form has come into effect, designed to make the process faster, more transparent, and easier to understand. The previous form has been discontinued after September 30, 2025. This update is good news for those in the unorganised sector who are depending on the government scheme for a steady pension of ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 a month after 60. The new form, aligned with PFRDA guidelines and Protean (NSDL) requirements, ensures smoother verification, clearer details, and hassle-free registration. With automatic FATCA/CRS checks and easier postal account linking, the paperwork burden got lighter, helping more Indians secure their retirement. 4 Highlights of the New APY Registration Form Designed for the unorganised sector The Atal Pension Yojana (APY) is a pension scheme specially created for workers in the unorganised sector, offering them financial security in old age.
