A harrowing discovery was made on Tuesday evening in a vacant plot in Bhopal’s Kolar area, when a human-like body part was seen submerged in water. The Kolar police were alerted immediately, and the cops rushed to the scene to investigate. Initial observations suggest that the part resembles a human leg, as per police. Police probe on Kolar police station house officer (SHO) Sanjay Soni told Bhaskar English that it would be too early to confirm whether the body part belongs to a human. “Water is being drained from the plot, after which the situation will become clear,” he added. The police personnel are proceeding with caution until a proper forensic examination is conducted. Local eyewitness accountsThe residents of the area said that the incident came to light between 4:00 pm and 4:30 pm on Tuesday. Several children, while playing near the nearby Capital Dhaba, noticed something resembling a leg in the water and immediately informed a police officer on site. Following this, a police team reached the plot to secure the area. According to officials, a sack was also found in the water, raising suspicions that it could contain a body. The exact nature of the discovery will only be confirmed once the water is fully drained. Forensic team, senior cops rush to the spot A forensic team along with senior police officers has arrived at the site to examine the findings. Investigations are ongoing, with authorities collecting information on any missing children or persons in the surrounding areas. Steps to be taken for identification The police emphasised that the identity of the deceased and the cause of death will only be determined following water drainage and post-mortem examination. Authorities are urging residents to provide any relevant information that could assist in the investigation.
