Madhya Pradesh BJP’s new state executive list is ready, with major reshuffling expected. The final approval is now awaited from the party’s central leadership. State BJP President Hemant Khandelwal has finalized the list of office-bearers after consultations with Organization General Secretary Hitanand Sharma and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. The list has been sent to the central leadership for approval. Khandelwal has completed 97 days as state president, having assumed charge on July 2. He is currently working with the team formed by former state president VD Sharma and has spent the past three months meeting party workers across the state. BJP sources indicate that the new state executive could be announced before Diwali. 60% of VD’s team to be replaced VD Sharma served as Madhya Pradesh BJP state president for 5 years, 4 months, and 17 days, taking charge on February 15, 2020. His term was extended by one year due to the COVID-19 crisis, and organizational election delays further prolonged his tenure. Among the office-bearers in VD Sharma’s executive, 8 have become MPs and 8 have become MLAs. State presidents of the Kisan Morcha, OBC Morcha, and Mahila Morcha have also become MPs and ministers. In the new executive, 60% of the office-bearers from VD Sharma’s team are expected to be replaced. Possible return of former organization ministers In September 2021, the BJP removed divisional organization ministers. VD Sharma had removed Shailendra Barua (Jabalpur Hoshangabad), Ashutosh Tiwari (Bhopal Gwalior), Jitendra Litoria (Ujjain), Shyam Mahajan (Rewa Shahdol), Jaipal Chawda (Indore), and Keshav Singh Bhadauriya (Sagar Chambal) from their divisional minister posts and appointed them as state committee members. All except Keshav Bhadauriya were later accommodated in government ministries and municipal boards. In the new executive, the return of these former organization ministers is possible. Lobbying for key positions BJP leaders have actively lobbied to secure positions in the new state executive. The most intense lobbying has been for the post of state general secretary. Leaders have also met the new state president multiple times to seek appointments as office in-charge or office minister. Morcha heads to be replaced Along with the state executive, heads of various party morchas (wings) will also be changed. For instance: Consequently, new heads will also be appointed for the Youth Morcha, SC Morcha, and ST Morcha.
