A shocking crime has come to light in Niwari district, where a man allegedly murdered his girlfriend and buried her body in the courtyard of his house, sleeping over it for two days. The incident occurred in a village under the Orchha police station area on 2 October. The woman failed to return home for two days, prompting her family to register a missing person complaint at the local police station. During the investigation, police questioned the accused and he confessed to the crime. Accused escapes custody, policemen suspended Police disclosed details of the case on Monday. SP Dr Rai Singh Narwariya identified the accused as Ratiram Rajput. Ratiram was taken into custody on Saturday, 4 October, but escaped the following day. Two policemen have since been suspended for negligence. Pressure for marriage The woman was married but had a pre-marriage love affair with Ratiram. Reports suggest she was pressuring him for marriage and was willing to leave her husband. Ratiram, who is also married, reportedly found the relationship burdensome. To remove his girlfriend from his life, he conspired with friends Kalicharan, Mukesh, and Gyan Singh to murder her. Murder and Burial On the night of 2 October, Ratiram invited his girlfriend to his house. The couple reportedly had physical relations, after which Ratiram strangled her to death. With the help of his friends, he dug a pit in the courtyard, buried the body, and plastered the spot with mud and cow dung. Shockingly, he placed a cot over the burial site and slept there for two days. Body recovered after confession Suspicion eventually fell on Ratiram, and police took him into custody on 4 October. During interrogation, he confessed, leading officers to recover the body from the courtyard. The gruesome case has sent shockwaves through the local community, raising questions about both personal safety and police vigilance in Niwari.
