A truck carrying a Durga idol for immersion in Jabalpur collided with an electric wire. Two youths died on the spot due to electrocution. Meanwhile, more than 10 people were seriously burned. After the accident, there was a stampede. People abandoned the idol and ran helter-skelter. The incident occurred in Bhita village on Sunday night around 9 PM. People were taking the idol of Mother Durga in a truck for Durga immersion to Gwarighat on the Narmada River. People present there took the injured to the district hospital. The deceased include Chintu Vishwakarma (24) and Akhilesh Patel (27). The injured include Hakku Patel, Tara Patel (16), Ballu Vishwakarma (50), Nitin Patel (24), Mohit Patel (26), and Kapil Patel (28). Both youths were sitting on top of the truck A large number of people were going from Temar Bhita to immerse the Durga idol, dancing to the tunes of the DJ. As soon as the idol reached near Bhita village, the 11 KV power line hanging above came into contact with the truck. Chintu Vishwakarma and Akhilesh Patel, who were sitting on top of the truck, fell down. Friends took them to the hospital. Doctors declared them dead. Both youths used to do private jobs. He said that during Durga Visarjan, when people living in Temar Bhita were going to Gauri Ghat, the structure accompanying the idol came into contact with an electric cable, due to which this incident occurred. Minister Rakesh Singh informed that so far 11 people have been reported injured in this incident. Two have died.
