A woman said to be in her late 40s, residing in Bhopal, died after being hit by a drum carried by a youth riding a bike, the police said on Monday. The incident occurred on September 22, 2025, near Narmada Bhavan in TT Nagar, when the accused, allegedly intoxicated, attempted to overtake the bike, on which the woman was sitting. As per police, the drum struck the victim, causing her to fall head-first on the road. Deceased named Sangeeta Singh TT Nagar police station house officer (SHO) Gourav Singh Dohare told Bhaskar English that the woman who met the ill-fate has been identified as Sangeeta Singh (48), a resident of Naya Basera in TT Nagar. She was employed as a domestic worker at an officer’s bungalow. At the time of the accident, she was returning home on a bike with her son, Rahul Singh, who had picked her up from an apartment where she worked. Woman rushed to hospital, succumbs to injuries Following the collision, Singh was admitted to hospital with severe head injuries. Despite medical care, she succumbed to her injuries on Monday. The police said that they have registered a case of unnatural death and have launched an investigation. Accused was allegedly intoxicated, say eyewitnesses According to eyewitness accounts and statements from the victim’s son, the youth on the overtaking motorcycle was heavily drunk. While attempting to overtake near Narmada Bhavan, the drum hanging from the pillion rider struck Sangeeta Singh, leading to the accident. Probe on The investigating police officials confirmed that the investigation is in progress, though the person responsible for the collision has not yet been arrested. Police are continuing efforts to trace and apprehend the accused.
