Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Sunday. He said that the GST Savings Festival will begin at sunrise on 22 September, benefiting all sections of society. He also appealed to the public, saying they should buy only those products in which the hard work of Indian citizens is reflected. In his 20-minute address, the Prime Minister emphasized GST reforms, an Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India), and the Swadeshi movement. He urged state governments to promote manufacturing alongside the Swadeshi campaign and create an environment conducive to investment. He said that only if the Centre and states work together will the dream be fulfilled. Following the Prime Minister’s address, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge wrote on X: “After eating nine hundred mice, the cat goes on Hajj. Instead of a simple and efficient GST, the central government imposed nine different slabs, calling it the ‘Gabbar Singh Tax,’ and collected over ₹55 lakh crore in eight years. Now, after inflicting deep wounds on the public, you are talking about a mere ₹2.5 lakh crore ‘Savings Festival’ as a tiny band-aid.” 5 key points from PM Modi’s address: To read PM Modi’s speech live, visit the blog below… Post navigation New GST rates effective from today:Prices of paneer, ghee, soap, shampoo along with car, AC reduced; old stock will also be cheaper Amul cuts prices of 700 products after GST revision:One-litre ghee price drops by ₹40; new rates effective from September 22
