A man working as a farmer in rural Bhopal’s Eintkhedi area lost his life after being bitten by a snake while working in his field, the police reported on Wednesday. The incident, as per police, occurred on Tuesday morning when the victim, identified as Om Prakash Choukse (53) from the Chandpur village, was engaged in farm work. According to police, a snake hidden in a drain attacked him, leaving him severely injured. Farmer makes last call to son Following the bite, Om Prakash began bleeding profusely. Despite being in immense pain, he managed to call his son to explain the situation. In his last emotional plea, he urged, “A snake has bitten me, I am bleeding a lot, rush me to hospital or I will die.” His son immediately reached the spot and took him to Hamidia Hospital. Dies during treatment Despite timely medical assistance, Om Prakash’s condition deteriorated overnight. On Wednesday morning at 8 am, he succumbed to the bite while undergoing treatment. Doctors confirmed the death, and the hospital authorities informed the police. Body sent for post-mortem The Eintkhedi police handed over the body to the family after getting its post-mortem conducted on Wednesday morning. The police have registered a case of unnatural death and have begun delving into the incident. According to the police, further action will depend on the post-mortem report. “Family members’ detailed statements are yet to be recorded,” a cop said.
